Introduction

First day of this blog. I have been so impressed by other blogs and the way pictures have been shared that I thought this would be a great way to get pictures and happenings of our family out to our friends.

I have a niece in law who has a blog and it is just fascinating to read as she is very gifted in writing skills. I sadly am lacking in this dept so my entries will be short and to the point.

My favorites are:
Family: Immediate family Spouse Bernard and children, Kim and Bryan==Kim is married to Hank and has my two wonderful grandchildren, Tate and Sarah. Bryan is engaged to Charity and we have a wedding planned for September.
Friends
Church
Quilting
Sewing and smocking
Flowers
Scrapbooking(stamps, artwork, etc)
Travel
Retirement Love it!
Dancing (observer now)

I retired 11 months ago and have thoroughly enjoyed retirement. After the initial months of getting use to not having a schedule I really have had no problems adjusting to the leisure life. We took the Kim and Grands and her Mother in law(also a very wonderful friend) and her oldest granddaughter to Orange Beach Al and the opening picture is from that trip.

I am really active in North jefferson quilt guild and we meet weekly. We are going on a retreat in two weeks and I am looking forward to that.
I am making progress on finishing quilts and will post pictures of completed items as they occur. I have completed four tote bags that are really cute.

and am ready to quilt a quilt for a new grand nephew so I am seeing progress.

Sometimes I think that maybe I should try to work but I do not want to be tied down to a full time job but I also don't want to be tied down at all. does that make sense? I think I would really be happy to become an expert in heirloom sewing and perhaps sale some of my work but I need some additional training to become really good at this.

I enjoy stamping and making cards. I am really good at copying someone's designs but not so good at creating my own design.

I have a great hobby room that Bernard set up for me. I have the sewing section at one end and the stamping/scrapbook section at the other. I bought a long arm quilting machine so we knocked out another wall to make additional room for that and I will post pictures.

I just obtained a new Babylock Ellisimo sewing machine. For those who don't sew, this won't mean much but it's really a nice machine. I traded in my old machine and a friend and I headed out to Baker Fl on a day trip to get the machine. I came home with a car load of goodies and two machines.

I first posted this in July 2008 but never posted anything else until now so this intro should be dated Feb 2009.
